The Minister for Education and Vocational Training, Dr Shukuru Kawambwa, told a press briefing in Dar es Salaam that the event would be followed by week-long activities up to May 10 in various municipal councils and regions in the country.
He noted that the ministry, in collaboration with Prime Minister’s Office (Regional Administration and Local Government), would be organising the event for the first time, adding that the event would henceforth be commemorated every year.
“The event will involve various activities such as provision of education on the importance of every community member to participate in helping the country towards providing quality education,” said Dr Kawambwa.
He stressed that the event would be commemorated in line with the global action week on education which focuses on inclusive education for children with disabilities, which recognizes the importance of ensuring that all children have access to quality education.
